What are the Spanish foundations, how are they taught and at what age do you begin teaching them?

We begin teaching Spanish in our 2-4 year old classroom. Recognizing that our toddlers are learning both English and Spanish simultaneously, we are careful to avoid confusion by placing the emphasis on connecting sounds with pictures. At this age, the English / Spanish curriculum covers letters, numbers, colors, shapes, animals, fruits and vegetables.

Our 4-5 year old classroom expands upon the initial principles of teaching children how to recognize the sounds of words, at this level children are also taught how to pronounce basic words in Spanish. The children are exposed to over 50 conversational language words (greetings, family members, commands, courtesies), etc., and basic simple word recognition. Our teachers will speak to the children in both English and Spanish throughout the day.
